“Once I decided to become a foster parent, I researched a number of top agencies. I made several contacts and found they all had mutual respect for LSS and their case managers and social workers. LSS was an overwhelming choice as the best/right agency to work with.”
– Dena Dupuie, LSS foster parent since 2008

Continuum of Care” Pilot Program at Nelson Center

The Dallas/Ft.Worth/Mesquite LSS foster care offices were selected by DFPS to implement the new “Continuum of Care” program, which has the potential to spread throughout the state.

To sum up the new program: Instead of the usual process, where a child learns about his foster home placement a day before his release from a residential center (like Nelson), the foster family-to-be will meet the child 30 days ahead. This allows them to become well-acquainted before the release date, attend therapy sessions together, and just add some security to what is usually an insecure time. We anticipate this program will be a resounding success for the 20 boys at Nelson who have already been presented with their future foster families. We’ll keep you posted on this groundbreaking program as it develops.

Another Way to Support Nelson Children’s Center – Plan to attend the first “Caring for Kids Fun-Raiser.”  May 1, 2010, at Delaney Vineyards in Grapevine. Save the date … there will be food, wine, music, and a silent auction!
