LSS Accomplishments - 2007

Adoption
a7,000 children adopted through LSS (over the history of its adoption             program)

a237 statewide adoptive placements in 2007, 18% increase over 2006.

Foster Care / Residential Treatment
a1,402 children served in 2007

a600 foster families work with LSS across the state.

a358 children served in 2007 with psychiatric-based care and accelerated education through Trinity Charter School and on site campuses.

aLSS Foster Parents honored at National Foster Family Association (Coffey’s) as Foster Family of the Year

aNamed State Agency of the Year from the National Foster Parent Association three times since first honored in 2001 (the only agency to receive the award more than once)

Senior Services
a335 older persons assisted living/independent living options in 2007.

a226 older or disabled persons were provided with adult day care in 2007.

Community Services / Emergency Assistance
a1,258 individuals benefited from services at a diabetes health clinic.

a10,635 individuals benefited from rent, utilities, and prescription assistance.

Disaster Response
a3,320 children served across 32 camps following Hurricanes Rita & Katrina.

a10,565 households were provided comprehensive case management.

a10,080 homes were cleaned out and/or repaired.

a37,000 volunteers contributed more than 1.6 million hours
