BULGARIAN INTERNATIONAL ADOPTION
There are many children currently living in orphanages in Bulgaria who are in need of loving homes. Lutheran Social Services is here to help find loving families for these children. As a Hague accredited organization, we have partnered with New Beginning Association, a foundation accredited by the Bulgarian government to provide international adoption services.
This is a new program and is currently restricted to Texas residents only.

About Bulgaria
Bulgaria is a small country in Eastern Europe. It is a pretty, mountainous country with friendly, helpful people. It is a nation of contrasts, a merger of the East and the West. It is not uncommon to see in the cities new, modern architecture beside older, traditional structures, and in rural areas, farmers working their land with oxen and sweat. Bulgaria has been a democratic republic since 1989 with the fall of communism. A new, progressive generation has emerged and is advancing Bulgaria professionally on many fronts. This is the new middle class; however, many of the older generation have not experienced the benefits of this change.
Several years ago, Bulgaria closed its international adoption program to enable the government to institute a child welfare system that was more protective of its children. The new system is compliant with the requirements of the Hague Convention. The Ministry of Justice is very committed to addressing the need for families for the children in their orphanages. In the last year, they have accredited a number of Bulgarian organizations to facilitate international adoption. LSS has entered into a partnership with New Beginning Association to work together to find loving homes for Bulgaria’s orphaned children.
