Krause
Children's Center awarded grant for spiritual care
August
2, 2006
The Chapelwood
United Methodist Church of Houston awarded a $5,000
grant to the Krause Childrens Center to give
troubled foster children the opportunity to voluntarily
increase their knowledge and faith in Jesus Christ.
Krause
Childrens Center cares for abused, neglected
and troubled boys and girls ages 11 to 17. Because
of the childrens disruptive past, religion is
often absent from their lives. Spiritual care, including
chapel services and Bible studies, are offered on
a voluntary basis to Krause Childrens Center
residents.
It
is important to address the spiritual, as well as
the physical and emotional needs of these troubled
children, said Cecilia Blanford, grant director
of Lutheran Social Services, the operator of the Krause
Center. Grants like this allow the children
to experience faith-based activities in a safe, nurturing
environment.
The Chapelwood
United Methodist Church Serving Ministry ministers
to the needs of others, domesticallly and globally,
by helping organizations that address critical needs
such as hunger, homelessness, education, etc.
