Golfers
take mulligan, get second chance to tee-off
after rain postpones golf benefit for
abused, neglected children at Krause Children's Center
July
20, 2006
Katy, Texas
- More than 160 golfers will finally get the chance
to tee off at the 17th Annual Tomorrow's Child Golf
Benefit at Pine Forest Golf Club in Houston on Monday,
July 24, to support the abused and neglected children
at Krause Children's Center in Katy. The tournament,
originally set for June 20, had to be rescheduled
because of rain.
Residents and staff at the Krause Center are hopeful
that the tournament, despite the postponement, will
be a huge success and achieve its goal of raising
more than $100,000 to fund extra-curricular activities
for the residents.
"The Katy community is awesome!"
said Krause Chief Executive Officer Phil Ashford.
"They stand by the Krause kids through rain and
shine - literally! Even with the rain and flooding,
more than 100 golfers showed up last month. We are
blessed to have such loyal supporters."
"The community used the
rain-out as an opportunity to do even more good things
for the kids," said Joy Caster, director of volunteer
services for Krause. "Since we rescheduled, we
have signed up even more golfers, added new sponsors
and signed on new volunteers!"
Several girls and boys from the Krause Center will
join golfers for lunch and get a putting lesson from
volunteers at the course.
Pine Forest Golf Club is located
at 18003 Clay Rd., Houston, Texas.
Krause Children's Center serves
boys and girls, ages 11 to 17, who suffer from severe

of past abuse and neglect. Krause provides specialized
care in a secure, structured environment where residents
can receive therapy, attend school, enjoy recreational
activities and are offered voluntary spiritual care.
Krause Children's Center is an
affiliated ministry of Lutheran Social Services, the
