Kruse
Village to add new, larger cottages
Sept.
21 , 2006
BRENHAM, Texas -
Kruse Village will soon begin construction on 12 newly
designed cottages on five acres located on its campus
at 1700 E. Stone in Brenham. Groundbreaking for The
Greens of Kruse Village is set for 2 p.m. on Thursday,
Oct. 26.
At 1,400-plus square
feet, the new cottages (duplexes) - called The Texas
- will be the largest offered at Kruse Village. Each
two-bath, two-bedroom cottage will include a two-car
garage and screened-in porch.
The beautifully landscaped
grounds will include a putting green and gazebo. Plans
also call for a walking trail.
"Eventually, we
will have 27 of the new cottages," said John
Berkely, vice president for senior services for Lutheran
Social Services, owner of Kruse Village. "With
the large number of baby boomers retiring in the next
few years, the demand for independent living will
be increasing.
"Kruse Village
is the perfect place because it is one of the few
full-service senior communities in the area,"
Berkely said. "We offer independent living, assisted
living, skilled nursing care and dementia care."
