Kruse
Village breaks ground for new, larger cottages
Oct.
26 , 2006
BRENHAM, Texas -
Where there is now pasture land, a group of 12 new
and larger cottages will soon be constructed at Kruse
Village, a community for seniors at 1700 E. Stone
in Brenham.
A groundbreaking ceremony
for The Greens of Kruse Village was held on
Thursday, Oct. 26. The event was attended by Kruse
Village staff and residents, Brenham community leaders
and representatives of Lutheran Social Services of
the South, the non-profit organization which owns
and operates Kruse Village.
Located on five acres,
the 1,400-plus square feet cottages (duplexes), called
The Texas, will be the largest offered at Kruse Village.
Each two-bath, two-bedroom cottage will include a
two-car garage and covered porch.
The beautifully landscaped
grounds will include a putting green and gazebo. Plans
also call for a walking trail.
"Eventually, we
will have 27 of the new cottages," said John
Berkely, vice president for senior services for Lutheran
Social Services. "With the large number of baby
boomers retiring in the next few years, the demand
for independent living will be increasing.
Kruse Village is one
of the few full-service senior communities in the
area, and offers independent living, assisted living,
skilled nursing care and dementia care.
