June 18 , 2006

Lubbock, TX - Lubbock - The 15th Annual Spring Fling gala, a benefit for Lutheran Social Services’ programs for the poor and seniors in Lubbock, raised more than $40,000 on June 16.

Proceeds from the event supports the LSS ministry at Neighborhood House, an emergency assistance program, Health for Friends Clinic, for those who do not have access to healthcare, and Wedgewood South, an assisted living community.

"Kudos to the hard-working members of the Spring Fling committee," said Kurt Senske, chief executive officer of LSS. Our special thanks to Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, Cap*Rock Winery and all the sponsors whose support helped make the event a great success."

Spring Fling featured live music by Cary Banks, Andy Wilkinson and Kenny Maines, dancing, hors d’oeuvres, door prizes and a silent auction.

“It’s become an event folks look forward to each year,” said Joy Loper, director of Neighborhood House and Health for Friends Clinic. “There’s nothing like a ‘spring fling’ in the summertime where friends and neighbors can have a good time and, at the same time, help several good causes right here in Lubbock.”
