LSS celebrates 7,000th adoption,
brings Christmas to Austin-area family

AUSTIN, TEXAS -- Lutheran Social Services celebrated its 7,000th adoption with the placement of 4-day-old Carson Matthew, the new son of an Austin-area family, on Friday, Dec. 21.

The adoption placement ceremony took place at the LSS Austin offices, with the Rev. Karl Gronberg, pastor of Gethsemane Lutheran Church, presiding. Family and friends of the family and LSS staff attended the moving ceremony.

“This was a wonderful Christmas gift for this family and for our staff,” said LSS President and Chief Executive Officer Kurt Senske. “We feel extremely blessed to serve as God’s hands and to place hundreds of children in loving homes every year.”

LSS began in Texas in 1926 as a ministry serving orphans and widows. Since the 1940s, LSS has been placing children for adoption through its domestic and international adoption programs.
