Kurt
Senske elected to LCMS national board
Houston, TX -
Kurt Senske, chief executive officer of Lutheran Social
Services of the South, was elected to a six-year term
on The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod's national board
at the LCMS national convention.
The LCMS Board of Directors serves the church as the
legal representative of the Synod and is the custodian
of all of the property of the Synod. The board also
manages and supervises of all business affairs of
the Synod.
"It is an
honor to have been elected by delegates of the LCMS
convention," said Senske. "My prayer is
to draw upon my leadership experience and God-given
talents to help create a healthy, Christ-like, church-wide
environment that will allow us to fulfill the vision
to reach 100 million people with the Gospel of Jesus
Christ."
Senske has been with LSS since 1994 and was named
CEO in 1997. He is responsible for leading the agency
through an exhaustive strategic planning process that
has refocused resources and spurred phenomenal growth.
LSS has an annual operating budget of about $100 million
and serves more than 35,000 people annually throughout
Texas, Louisiana and the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Senske earned a
law degree from the University of Illinois and a Ph.D.
from the University of Texas.
The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod has 6,150 congregations
served by more than 9,000 professional church workers
throughout North America.
LSS is the social service arm of The Lutheran Church
- Missouri Synod and the Evangelical Lutheran Church
in America. LSS affiliated ministries serve more than
35,000 people in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Mississippi
regardless of religious beliefs, ethnicity, gender

care, children's residential treatment centers, adoption,
