World-class
musicians raise funds
for abused, neglected children

DENTON, Texas -
Members of the Dallas and Forth Worth Symphonies raised
more than $8,000 for the Nelson Children's Center
recently during two chamber music concerts.
The concerts, called "Ellen Rose and Friends,"
is named after Ellen Rose, principal viola with the
Dallas Symphony Orchestra. She has been instrumental
in organizing the concerts and recruiting her musical
friends to take part.
The Nelson Children's
Center in Denton serves up to 65 children, ages 6
to 16, who have been severely abused and neglected.
Education is provided at the center by Trinity Charter
School. The children
receive individual and group therapy and provided
structured activities on and off campus. The center
also provides substance abuse education, music therapy,
self-esteem building and anger management.
The center was established
in 1995 by Lutheran Social Services.
