Thomas Foundation for Adoption awards grant to Lutheran Social Services

San Antonio, Texas - The Dave Thomas Foundation
for Adoption has awarded Lutheran Social Services a $64,000 grant for the Wendy's
Wonderful Kids program benefiting San Antonio-area children in the foster care
system who are eligible for adoption. The
grant provides for a full-time, dedicated adoption recruiter and program costs.
The Wendy's Wonderful Kids program focuses on child-driven recruitment, a process
that involves carefully identifying each child's needs and matching him or her
with a family who can best meet those needs to ensure the most successful results. "We
are extremely excited to implement the WWK child-focused recruitment strategies
in the growing city of San Antonio," Said Kurt Senske, Chief Executive Officer
of LSS. Bexar County, which includes San Antonio, has nearly 3,900 children in
foster care, about 900 of whom are legally free for adoption. LSS has successfully
worked with WWK in North Texas. Lutheran
Social Services is the largest provider of foster care services in Texas. LSS
has placed more than 6,600 children with adoptive families. Its other ministries
include children's residential treatment centers, disaster response, emergency
assistance, senior health care, retirement communities and adult day care. Please
