Dr. Kurt Senske, J.D., Ph.D.
President and Chief Executive Officer


Dr. Kurt Senske
Dr. Senske has been with LSS since 1994 and was named CEO in 1997. He is responsible for leading the agency through an extensive strategic planning process that has refocused resources and spurred phenomenal growth.

Based on the lessons he has learned as an attorney, political consultant and president and CEO, Senske has written two books, Executive Values: A Christian Approach to Organizational Leadership and Personal Values, God's Game Plan for Life. John Berkely
Senior Vice President for Senior Services

John BerkelyJohn Berkely joined LSS in the spring of 2003. John is responsible for overseeing the operations of all LSS senior residential facilities in Texas. Berkely has 12 years in the senior health care industry and earned a bachelor’s degree in health policy and administration at Penn State University.

Dan Damon
Chief Financial Officer

David  KahleDan Damon has more than 30 years experience in financial management and consulting. Since joining LSS, Damon has played a critical role in helping to streamline and update LSS financial procedures and systems to better support our efforts. Damon has worked as a consultant at Harder Consulting, Inc. for the American Heart Association and spent 14 years at International SEMATECH Inc., where his last position was chief financial officer. Damon received his master's in finance from Rochester Institute of Technology and his bachelor's in biology from St. Bonaventure University in New York.

Betsy Guthrie
Senior Vice President for Management and Program Support

Betsy GuthrieBetsy Guthrie became a member of the LSS Management Team in February 2005. She received her bachelor of arts in psychology and MBA from University of Wisconsin. As Senior Vice President for Management and Program Support, she is responsible for foster care and adoption and planning, organizing and directing the Human Resources Department in support of agency operations. Guthrie is also responsible for ensuring our compliance with federal regulations, and for formulation, implementation and administration of all of the LSS human resources policies and procedures. She is also responsible for risk management, continuous quality improvement and training. She is a Team Leader with COA and a Peer Reviewer with the Hague.

David Kahle
Senior Vice President for Agency Advancement


David  Kahle
David Kahle has been with LSS since 1992 and is responsible for supervising the agency's development department, including community/church relations and volunteer coordination. A graduate of Hardin Simmons University, he also attended Texas Lutheran College for two years.  Prior to joining LSS, Kahle served as development director for a national organization serving the developmentally challenged.

Katherine Kerr
Vice President for Public Relations


Betsy Guthrie
Katherine Kerr earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri at Columbia. She joined LSS in
1998 and has more than 27 years of experience in the communication field, including 11 years at daily newspapers. Kerr is responsible for all internal and external communication, media relations and marketing for the agency.

Mark Minick
Senior Vice President for External Relations

Mark Minick
Mark Minick is responsible for disaster response, public relations, spiritual care and internal/external communciations. Minick received his bachelor's degree in business from UT Austiin and his MBA in management from UT-Arlington. He joined LSS in 1999 and has more than 20 years experience in fund raising, disaster response and management.

Armin Steege
VP, Family Services and Residential Treatment

Armin SteegeArmin Steege earned his bachelor’s degree from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and his master of divinity from the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago. He joined LSS in 2007 and is responsible for the residential treatment centers. He is a licensed professional counselor and licensed marriage and family therapist.

Dirk Uys
Chief Information Officer

Dirk UysDirk Uys joined LSS in July 2007 and was named Chief Information Officer in February 2008. Uys is responsible for aligning IT strategy with the overall goals and strategies of LSS. Uys has more than 18 years of information technology experience. He holds a bachelor of science degree in computer science from the University of Potchefstroom in South Africa.
