Generous donors give children first-rate game room
Residents of the Nelson Children’s Center are especially excited about the latest addition to the Denton program: The Otto Schaefer Game Room.
“It’s awesome!” said 10-year-old Daniel.
The game room and the building it is located in, are a gift from Norma Schaefer in memory of her husband, Otto. The games and equipment were furnished through a gift made by the Rayfield Wright Foundation and McKesson Corp.
The game room features air hockey, foosball, basketball “shoot out” and two X-Box 360 game stations.
Residents of the center must earn the privilege to use the game room. They do so by earning “good behavior” points each day.
“It’s a great motivator,” said Chery Rayl, chief executive officer of the Nelson Center. “With partners like Norma Shaefer, Rayfield Wright and the McKesson Corp., we can do so much more for these deserving kids.”
