Hurricane Preparedness
Every home should have a plan for evacuation, emergency supplies and equipment ready for every member of the family. This site offers an easy-to-understand outline of what you need to know to ensure the safety of your family and home and a complete list of items for a Disaster Supply Kit. Special Tip: Have the whole family work to gather this kit so they know what goes into it!

Hurricane Preparedness for Children

Do your kids know what a hurricane is? Studies show that children who are informed about disaster situations and have been included in the planning and readiness process endure significantly less trauma when a storm strikes. The FEMA Kids Hurricane Site helps take the mystery and fear out of the storm, and empowers children by showing them what they can do to help the whole family.
